Vi vet att fönster erbjuder högsta smartafonster energieffektivitet nuförtiden, för att inte tala om de olika former, stilar och färger som finns tillgängliga som kan försköna och förbättra våra hem… Men effektivt blockerar störande ljud utifrån och solens intensiva UV-strålar?

Åh, ja!

Glasteknologin, och vetenskapen om fönster i allmänhet, har verkligen utvecklats och ger konsumenterna nästan allt de behöver i ett fönster, inklusive energieffektivitet, ljuddämpande egenskaper samt värme- och ljusavböjning. Och allt är inbyggt i specifikationerna.

Här är vad du ska leta efter:

Minska buller utomhus, speciellt motorvägsbuller

När du funderar på att köpa ett fönster som hjälper till att stänga ute buller från utsidan, oavsett om det är ljudet av trafik från en trafikerad motorväg, en närliggande flygplats eller en bullrig stadsgata, är informationen du bör läsa på specifikationsbladet OITC, eller Utomhus-inomhus transmissionsklass. Detta betyg mäter barriärprestandan för ett fönster från interiören när det utsätts för buller utomhus, som trafik.

Det finns ett annat nummer, STC (Sound Transmission Class) som också indikerar ljuddämpande förmåga, men OITC-betyget är ett bättre mått på prestanda än STC-betyget när trafikbuller är ett huvudproblem. Faktum är att OITC-betyget håller snabbt på att bli branschstandarden för att bestämma den ljuddämpande förmågan hos fönster och altandörrar.

Och så här läser du dessa OITC-specifikationer: ju högre siffra, desto bättre är fönstrets ljuddämpande förmåga. Till exempel kommer ett fönster med en OITC-klassificering på 27 decibel (dB) att blockera mer buller än ett fönster med en rating på 24.

Förebyggande och skydd mot blekning inomhus

Vi har sedan en tid tillbaka vetat hur skadlig ultravioletta (UV) strålar är för vår hud. De gör också att tyger och möbler bleknar. Två klassificeringssystem används för att indikera mängden UV som sänds genom ditt fönster: Transmission Ultra-Violet Energy (TUV)-numret indikerar överföringen av kortvågsenergi i 300-380 nanometerdelen av solspektrumet, medan Transmission Damage Function (TDW) mäter transmissionen av UV- och synligt ljusenergi i 300-600 nanometerdelen av solspektrumet.

Ju lägre Skadefunktionsklassificeringen är, desto mindre överföring av kortvågsenergi genom glaset som potentiellt kan få möbler att blekna. Observera också att vissa tillverkare kan citera blekningstester för endast UV-strålar, men detta utesluter upp till 50 % av normalt ljus som också orsakar blekning.
